Stop Disturbing Your Wives Over Preference For Male Children - Clergy

                      
 Pastor Tomi Sodeinde, the Pastor in-Charge of Province 3, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Asaba, on Sunday admonished Christian men to stop disturbing their wives over preference for male children.
The pastor gave the charge at a thanksgiving and child dedication service at the Unity Model Parish, Asaba.
Sodeinde said after a mother’s testimony on the delivery of a male child, following numerous female children, that men put women under unnecessary pressure for male children.
 
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quotes the pastor as appealing to Christians to desist from the cultural inclination that makes them believe that male children are preferred to female children.
He said that contrary to other opinions, the fruit of the womb either male or female were rewards and blessings from God.
According to him, Christians should be grateful to God whether or not they have males, females or both children.
 
``Children are blessings and rewards from God and no man has the power to choose which sex of the child he wants.
``Besides, science has proven that only the male chromosome determines what sex of the child a woman can have because men have the X and Y chromosomes in their semen while women have only X chromosomes.
 
``So, since it takes the X and Y chromosomes to form a male child, men should stop troubling their wives for not giving birth to male children, they should rather blame themselves for not having male children," Sodeinde said.
He reminded the church that contemporary experience showed that female children take better care of their parents at old age.
The clergy also said that women have gone beyond being the house keepers and kitchen maids to occupy numerous enviable positions globally.
