The Executive secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), John Kennedy Opara has disclosed its
plans to introduce online medical examination in the selection of the
Federal Medical Team.
He disclosed this in Abuja while receiving the report of the Federal
Medical Committee for the 2014 Christian pilgrimage to Israel, explained
that with the new arrangement, medical personnel from all parts of the
country do not need to converge in Abuja to sit for the medical
examination.
He emphasised the need for the Federal Medical Committee to strive for excellence and perfection in carrying out their medical assignment, adding that the innovation would add to the credibility and transparency of the examination, which would be conducted online within one hour and the result would be made available online for the candidates without delay.
"It has always been my desire that our medical examinations will be of the highest standard and in line with global practices. We must continuously make deliberate effort to improve on what we are doing," he said.
Opara told the Federal Medical Committee that their assignment was a soul-winning one and as such they were expected to touch lives.
The NCPC scribe also hinted that the commission would establish an in-house clinic to be used by staff that would also serve as secretariat for the Federal Medical Committee, pledging to transform the pilgrims' insurance cover with a view to making it more functional and beneficial.
