We have gone through a lot in this country, problems of corruption, unending strikes (especially that of the health sector), but we are still strong, no wonder we are one of the most happiest people on earth.
Nigerians know how to adapt quickly to situations, weather good or bad.
The inaugural speech of the President yesterday, is an indication that a great new dawn is here: We are starting anew, forgiving, shaking it all off and moving on to a fresh new beginning...
A story is told of a farmer who owned an old donkey. The donkey fell
into the farmer’s well. The farmer heard the donkey braying and, after
carefully assessing the situation, sympathized with the donkey. He
decided, however, that neither the donkey nor the well was worth the
trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbors together, told them
what had happened, and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old
donkey in the well and put him out of his misery.
Initially, the old donkey was hysterical. But as the farmer and his
neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, a thought
struck him. It dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt
landed on his back, he should shake it off and step up! This he did,
blow after blow.
“Shake it off and step up. Shake it off and step up. Shake it off and
step up!” No matter how painful the blows, or how distressing the
situation seemed, the old donkey fought against panic and just kept
right on shaking it off and stepping up. It wasn’t long before the old donkey, battered and exhausted, stepped triumphantly out of the well.
We will rise again, we shall shake it off and stand again, even the 'farmer's well' can not break us. We are a great nation.
God bless our country.
