And..National Hospital Abuja Health Workers Protest

Health workers of the National Hospital Abuja, on Wednesday, disrupted activities at the hospital as they embarked on a three-day-work to rule protest, following the refusal of management of the Hospital to allow health workers skip CONHESS 10.

They are aggrieved that some tertiary hospitals have begun arrears that accrued after workers were allowed to skip CONHESS, following a hard-fought legal battle with the federal government, but
National Hospital was yet to do anything about it.

The workers reported for duty at eight, they stayed away from work in protest until 12 noon before returning to their duty posts.

The chairman of Medical and Health Workers Unions of Nigeria, Tajudeen Rasaki maintained that the protest will continue till Friday.
Implementing the decision means workers in health on CONHESS 9 will move directly to CONHESS 11, the equivalent of the other sectors' skipping from Grade Level 10 to 12

Rasaki said, "We are not asking for arrears, we are only for implementation"
He said workers resorted to protest after they exhausted all notices required of them by labour laws without positive response from National Hospital management.
LEADERSHIP News gathered that a meeting called between representatives of health workers and NHA management was deadlocked, with no resolution reached.
Meetings were still ongoing by Wednesday evening and NHA's head of communications, Tayo Haastrup, said the hospital was being proactive.
"Dialogue is going on. It is a national issue. They are not on strike; it is work to rule. It will be resolved," Haastrup said.
