Internet connectivity launched in Nigeria's Tertiary Schools
        
Minister of Communication Technology and Chairman of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), Dr Omobola Johnson, has commissioned the University Inter-Campus Connectivity (UnICC) project at the University of Lagos Medical School.
UnICC is a collaborative effort between the USPF and Nigerian Research Education Network (NgREN).
It represents a unique model of inter-agency and cross ministerial cooperation.
Speaking during the occasion, Johnson stressed that the commissioning is in pursuit of USPF’s objective of facilitating ICT infrastructure and services to tertiary institutions.
She said the project was empowered by the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) of 2003, to promote widespread availability and usage of network services throughout Nigeria by encouraging the installation of network facilities and the provision of network services to institutions and to underserved areas and communities in Nigeria.
