IGP, CAN wade into Assemblies of God church crisis
          
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) would tomorrow wade into the crisis that has engulfed the Assemblies of God Church Nigeria for about a year now in order  to broker peace between the two warring factions of the church.

Consequently, the association has invited the two factions led by the General Superintendent (GS), Rev. Prof. Paul Emeka and his Assistant, Rev. Dr. Chidi Okoroafor respectively to a peace meeting slated for tomorrow.
The arbitration by CAN, Daily Sun gathered was initiated by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Abba, who, following series of petitions and counter-petitions by the two factions and some branches of the church decided to write the Christian umbrella body to wade into the matter and broker peace.
A reliable source told Daily Sun that the “IG felt that since CAN is the highest body of the Christians, he should move the matter to the association to broker peace than to allow the church continue in police cases and legal tussles. So, the IG wrote CAN to broker peace and based on that, CAN I learnt had written the two factions to come to Lagos on December 18 for a meeting.”
However, the action of the IGP has been commended by the church members and other Christians outside the church. as one of them said, “the IG by his action showed a lot of maturity befitting someone holding such position of authority. His decision to  call in CAN to handle the matter, so that the church will not further be ridiculed is commendable.”
