Several injured in gas cylinder explosion
A gas cylinder exploded at a refuelling station in Ondo state Nigeria, injuring several people and razing many houses, police and residents said on Sunday.
Ondo State police spokesman Felix Ogodo told AFP that nobody died but several people were injured.
He said the incident happened on Saturday evening at a gas station located in Ondo's state capital Akure.
Resident Olufunke Adegbehingbe told AFP several nearby buildings and shops were razed in the fire following the explosion.
"They were refilling a gas cylinder when it exploded and sparked the inferno that consumed the houses and shops around the place," she said.
She said several people including a woman trapped in a car, were saved from the fire.
"The car was burnt beyond recognition," she added.
