Health workers in Enugu State suspends strike
The Enugu State branch of the Joint Health Workers Union of Nigeria (JOHESU), has suspended its two month old strike.
The Chairman of the union, Chief Mathias Okonkwo, announced this at the end of its congress in Enugu on Friday.
Okonkwo said the suspension followed the outcome of a meeting the leaders of the union held with Gov. Sullivan Chime of Enugu State on Thursday.
The chairman said the governor promised to look into the implementation of the consolidated health workers salary structure.
He directed all workers to resume work on Monday.
Members of the union, including the Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Comrade Maurice Eze, expressed hope that the government would keep to the agreement.
Members of JOHESU include the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals, MHWUN and National Association of Nurses and Midwives
