Well, the South-East zone of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, MHWUN, has again disassociated itself from a purported rally in protest against the newly-elected President of Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. Ayuba Wabba.
The union, in a statement by the national Vice President, South-East, Mr. Ahukanna Chisaraokwu,
said: "The South-Eastern states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo heartily congratulate the National President of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, on his well-deserved victory as President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, at the just-concluded national delegates' conference.
"We participated actively in the said conference and we from the South-East zone wholly and entirely supported the candidature of Wabba, based on his track record of achievements and believing in his manifesto."
As regards the planned protest, the union said: "We wish to state categorically that at no time did any member of MHWUM in the South-East zone participated in any protest, rally or agitation against the candidature or emergence of Wabba before and after the NLC congress.
"We, therefore, warn any person or persons using the name of the South-East zone of MHWUN to pursue any inglorious, self-serving and selfish mission to desist forthwith."
