11 governorship candidates and 19 political party chairmen in Imo
State has finally signed the peace accord on Thursday. It will be recalled that Candidates of the various
political offices in Imo state had earlier shunned a peace accord
meeting initiated by the state police command, which was slated in view of the up-coming elections, so as to maintain peace during and after
the general elections.

The Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, during the event at the Police Command Headquarters, Owerri, warned politicians, governorship candidates and their supporters, not to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the elections.
“Anybody arrested for fomenting trouble during and after the elections will be decisively dealt with.”
The head of the State Security Service, Olusegun Adegboye said that no form of thuggery will be allowed, stating that only approved security agents will be allowed to monitor the elections.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident commissioner, Dr. Gabriel Ada said that INEC was ready and warned that, there will be no room for snatching ballot boxes like in past elections.
All the governorship candidates attended the event, except for governor Rochas Okorocha and the state APC chairman.
