Fire destroy shops in Umuahia

         
About 27 shops and goods worth several millions of naira were destroyed in a midnight fire at the Oba Street market, off Club road, Umuahia. Abia State. The fire, which was said to have been caused by a power surge, started at about 11.30pm on Wednesday.

 Residents around the area said the fire raged for more than two hours before shop owners came around to salvage some of their goods inside the shops, But sadly, the ravaging fire did not allow them save their goods and services.

(sad...This is why I preach about safety here, switch off all electrical appliances when not in use)...
