Police
officers stormed the ministry of Health building located at the Three Arm Zone,
at about 1pm on Wednesday to arrest the Permanent Secretary of the ministry,
Mr. Linus Awute who is the accounting officer of the ministry and two others,
over allegations of mismanagement of Ebola fund.
According
to World Stage News, The other officers pencilled down for arrest were
Chief Executive Officer/National Cordinator of the National Centre for Disease
Control (NCDC), Prof. Abdulsalam Nasidi, Mr.John Akintunde Kehinde,
Director, Emergency Health Response and one Dr. Joshua Obasanya, team
leader of the Nigerian volunteers and deputy head of the ASEOWA mission
Obasanya is out of the country on official assignment.
While
the permanent secretary and the NCDC boss were said not to be on seat,
Mr. Kehinde was however picked up from his office and brought to the third
floor with the intention to pick the permanent secretary who was said not to be
on seat, while Prof Nasisdi was said to be out of town
When
Mr. Kehinde insisted that he was not going with the police unless they obtain
permission of his permanent secretary, some workers also prevented the police
from whisking him away as they followed them to the car pack and also blocked
their movement.
The
police team led by one Inspector Adamu from the Analytical Tracking and
Interception unit under the Inspector General of Police (IGP) monitoring
team had explained that they decided to come for the arrest because the
officers had shun their earlier invitation to answer questions on some
allegations filled against the officers by one Dr. Davidson George which
bothered on fraud and mismanagement of the N1.9 billion Ebola fund.
