The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has on
Thursday, requested that all purchased hospital equipments meant for the nine
Niger Delta States of the Federation, be released for used with immediate effect.
The Chairman of NDDC, Sir Bassey Dan-Abia gave the directive
after inspecting the items at the NDDC medical warehouse in Port Harcourt.
Items donated include: 30 mobile patient trolleys, 50
examination couches, 35 wheel chairs, 50 stethoscopes, mobile beds, hospital
beds, mattresses, executive tables, chairs, waste bins, major and minor surgery
packs and over one thousand customised NDDC special drugs.
The chairman emphasised that, the need to ensure potency and
quality of the drugs was of importance and he directed that equipments and
drugs be sent out to the nine states with collaboration with the state representatives
and governors of each of the state.
Sir Dan Abia directed that all distributions be done within two weeks.
700 Fridges, generators, sewing machines and grinding
machines were also to be distributed to the rural women in the Niger Delta
States.
