How can a state have about 40 percent of casual workers in its health ministry?
A committee constituted by the Katsina State government has said that 40 per cent of health workers in the state are either casual staff or volunteers.
Chairman of the committee, Dr Labaran Doro, who disclosed this while handing over their report to the state government, said urgent action must be taken to address challenges facing the sector.
Daily Trust reports that, the committee also discovered that staff and equipment are not equitably distributed among health centres.
Doro said short-term measures must be taken to provide succour, including provision of drugs at health facilities. Responding, Governor Aminu Masari said misapplication of resources had greatly affected sectors in the state.
