Reflections:Question for Socrates...

Our attitude strongly affects how we view life: The optimist says his glass of water is half full; the pessimist says his glass of water is half empty.
Always look at the bright side of life, make yourself happy!

Socrates was sitting outside of the gates of Athens when a man came up to him and said, “I am thinking about moving into Athens. Can you please tell me what it is like to live here?”
Socrates replied, “I would be happy to tell you, but first would you please tell me what it was like in your previous home city?”

CNB Fruity Talk:Banana-Do you know that...

Bananas are a good source of B vitamins, which may help to remedy sleeplessness, mood swings, and irritability. They also contain vitamin C, as well as magnesium and potassium, which make them a great electrolyte replenisher, particularly after exercising or on a hot day.

Do you know that eating only two bananas will give you enough energy to exercise or workout for an hour and a half.

Eat just as it is, make smoothie, used in making desserts. Because of their great taste, they can be substituted for sweets and satisfy sugar cravings.

They’re fairly high in natural sugars, so rather than reaching for processed sweet junk foods, next time opt for a banana to satisfy that sweet craving. Peel and enjoy, or blend into a smoothie or juice.

Check your environment and prevent diseases

We need to maintain best practices to manage environmental issues. Little things matter, little things like keeping our environment clean, clearing our drainage and avoiding bad car emissions. Everybody should be involved both the government and citizens alike.

An estimated 12.6 million people dies as a result of living or working in an unhealthy environment in 2012. Nearly 1 in 4 of total global deaths, according to WHO.

Environmental risk factors, like air, water, soil pollution, chemical exposures, climate change and ultraviolet radiations, contribute to more than 100 diseases and injuries.

Reflections:Let Goals Boost You Higher

Setting goals is a very important step, because if you don't know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else. A goal doesn't become a goal until you have set a deadline for its accomplishment.
How true the saying, “To achieve all that is possible in life, we must attempt the impossible.  To be as much as we can be, we must dream of being more.” However, attempting the seemingly impossible can appear like a daunting task or a far-away dream. We may wonder how to start and question if we’ll ever get there. If that’s the case for you at the moment, you may want to set some goals for yourself rather than tackle the seemingly impossible all at once.
Why goals? Well, there are many good reasons for setting goals. We can tend to be short-sighted. If we focus only on today, we may miss seeing the forest for the trees right in front of us. We may tire in well doing and lose the vision.

Woman gives birth to twins with different fathers

A Vietnamese mother and her husband recently took their two year old children for DNA tests because of 'striking' differences in their appearances.
The Vietnamese couple were shocked to hear that only one of their twins was biologically related to the father, according to local reports. However, both were the offspring of the mother - with tests ruling out the possibility of a hospital mix-up shortly after their births.

CNB Health Gist:Honey Versus Sugar..Wow!

Adewale, a 65-year-old diabetic, accidentally kicked his leg on a stone and injures his leg. Oh no! Wound healing can be a real problem for diabetics. Within a few days, that small wound had morphed into a big ulcer that refused to heal. That was until, Adewale poured honey on the sore. It was a home remedy his grandmother had once demonstrated, and in a few weeks, Adewale's leg looked as good as new.

Adewale was following a wound treatment plan forged centuries earlier. Ancient Egyptians used honey for its antimicrobial properties 5,000 years ago. Aristotle applied honey to flesh wounds, a practice that persists today among certain tribes in Africa. Recent research also confirms honey's ability to resist bacteria.
Honey might be good for our outsides, but is it better for our insides than sugar?

Reflections:Answers To Life Questions..Do this and be happy

Q: I’ve been stressed-out at work over relations with a new co-worker. He is talented and ambitious, but behaves as though he’s jealous of my position. I feel threatened and don’t know how to react to his aggressive temperament.
A: Dealing with difficult people in the work place can put a strain on our nerves and on our ability to perform in our job, especially when jealousy over position is a factor. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
It takes time to build new relationships of mutual trust and respect, and we may have to work at it. As frustrated and threatened as we may feel, we can be sure that persistent kindness will pay off in the end.
It’s like the story of a man who moved into a community here a notoriously disagreeable and contentious old man lived. When the newcomer to the neighbourhood was warned about the old man’s temperament, he answered, “If he disturbs me, I will kill him!”

Ebola survivors suffer from brain problems after initial infection- New Study

A new study had shown that the survivors of the Ebola virus disease suffer from brain impairments months after their initial infection. The virus "penetrates into the brain and causes lasting symptoms", says neurologist Lauren Bowen from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) in the United States.

Bowen and her colleagues travelled to Liberia to examine a group of people who survived the virus at least six months after their initial infection, and then follow them up over time.

This neurological study is part of a larger research project on Ebola survivors, known as Prevail III. Several medical teams - including eye doctors, infectious disease specialists and internal medicine doctors - will study other symptoms.

CNB Fruity Talk:Coconut,Coconut Oil and it's Benefit

There are well over 1,500 studies that show the incredible healing properties of coconut oil. So even if you’re currently at your ideal weight and have great skin and oral health, there are still significant reasons you should consider consuming coconut oil on a daily basis.

Coconut oil may help prevent heart disease and high blood pressure due to its effects on cholesterol, and also seems to have digestive benefits (through its effects on gut bacteria) and inflammation-lowering effects (through its high levels of antioxidants). And these are just some of the amazing benefits.

The important thing to remember is that, in order to get maximum benefit from coconut oil, it’s important to choose an unrefined, virgin coconut oil. Refined coconut oil has been heated and processed, thereby destroying many of the oil’s powerful healing properties.

Reflections: The Outcome Matters Alot

Jerome K. Jerome was a British writer whose father died when he was 12. At age 14, he had to go to work to support his mother and sister. His life got even harder when his mother died, but after many different jobs, the end result was that he became a writer—not of sad stories, but a famous humorist, writing funny stories to encourage others. After such a hard beginning in life, he said, “It is from the struggle, not the victory, that we gain strength.”
There is enough good and bad in everyone’s life—ample sorrow and happiness, sufficient joy and pain—to find a rational basis for either optimism or pessimism. We can choose to laugh or cry, bless or curse.
