Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has said that he will introduce a state version of the National Health Insurance Scheme in Sokoto state.
Tambuwal made this known at the weekend when he received officials of the National Health Insurance Scheme who visited him in Sokoto.
He said consulting NHIS was necessary as a first step to mobilising stakeholders and the people of the state to ensure the success of the project and that this will also ensure universal access to healthcare for the people.
The Governor disclosed that some aspects of state laws will have to be amended to accommodate the scheme. He pledged to allocate a plot of land in Sokoto town for the building of its model office in the state as requested.
