Reflections:Think Before You Talk

In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, “Do you know what I just heard about your friend?”
“Hold on a minute,” Socrates replied. “Before telling me anything I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Triple Filter Test.”
“Triple filter?”

Photo:Doctors In China Save Man's Severed Hand By Attaching It To His Legs

Chinese surgeons recently performed a bizarre surgery in order to save a man’s severed hand. They grafted it on to his ankle for a month, before reattaching it to his arm! The innovative surgery was carried out on factory worker Zhou, from Changsha, China’s Hunan province. Zhou’s left hand was accidentally severed from his arm during an accident involving a spinning blade machine. He was immediately rushed to Xiangya Hospital, where Dr. Tang Juyu and his team realised that the damaged nerves and tendons needed time to heal. If they tried to attach the hand to his arm immediately, its cells would die from lack of blood supply.

Beware!You Can Acquire These Infections From The Hospital

We go to the clinic whenever we are really sick, but sometimes that stay can lead to another illness on top of that first medical issue. These health care-associated infections or Nosocomial infections occur because a hospital puts a lot of people with infections in one place, many of them with low immunity, without strict procedures for maintaining sterile conditions; these can cause pathogens to spread.

Catheter UTI
Sometimes patients can't urinate due to injury, surgery or other reasons. When that happens, a nurse or doctor may install a catheter that automatically drains urine from the person's bladder. One end of the tube goes through the skin and into the bladder; the other end attaches to a collection bag.
The problem is that the bladder and urinary tract are usually germ-free environments, and introducing an external tube can allow pathogens to get into the bladder and cause a urinary tract infection, the most common hospital-acquired infection.

Reflections:The Garbage Truck

A friend sent this to me:
One day I hopped in a taxi to go to the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.
I asked, “Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and nearly sent us to the hospital!”
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, “The Law of the Garbage Truck.”

Bad taughts about others bring down your immune system

‘Negativity and toxic thoughts about others brings down your immune system’
The effects of workplace gossip are mostly negative, especially for the person who is the subject of the gossip. The only way to reduce the negative effects of workplace gossip is to help silence it.

Many employees have a hard time confronting gossip in the workplace. It is not because it is difficult to talk about, too personal, or disrespectful. It is because gossip in the workplace is such an incredible waste of their time.
When an employee confides in another co-worker, the conversation should remain confidential. If words spoken in confidence become the subject of workplace gossip, it can result in co-workers losing trust in each other.
Gossipers come in two groups, the once that do not know the truth and talk in ignorance because someone else mentioned it, OR  the once that know the truth but are awfully jealous and feels that the person involved cannot or should not achieve such feat even if such feat is as minor as eating, sleeping or taking a vacation!

These gossipers forget that they also have very bad characters with loads of dirty linens and that every other person sees them as insensitive and immature in behaviour.

Reflections:Try, Try Again

It’s a lesson you should heed,
                Try, try again;
                If at first you don't succeed,
                Try, try again;
                Then your courage should appear,
                For, if you will persevere,
                You will conquer, never fear;
                Try, try again.
                Once or twice though you should fail,
                Try, try again;
                If you would at last prevail,
                Try, try again;
                If we strive, it is no disgrace
                Though we do not win the race;
                What should you do in the case?
                Try, try again.
                Time will bring you your reward,
                Try, try again.
                All that other folks can do,
                Why, with patience, should not you?
                Only keep this rule in view;
                Try, try again.---
Enjoy!

Wow! See These Great Health Benefits Of Honey

Honey is sweet. (We all know that), and it is a healthy addition to almost any meal. But honey has even more healthy uses in addition to being a natural sweetener. A lot of people claiming to sell original honey are actually selling cooked sugar or sugarcane syrup! (I wonder what they gain by deceiving people) but, if you can get the real honey-you will be glad you did.
Here are some natural uses of Honey:

Removes Acne
Honey is tough on acne thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Apply a small amount of honey to affected areas of your face to help the pimples disappear. Try this treatment overnight, Or simply use as a spot treatment, leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse.

Skin Moisturizer
Honey is a great moisturizer and is even gentle enough for people with sensitive skin. One moisturizer recipe involves mixing four tablespoons of honey with two egg whites and a few tablespoons of flour (depending on your desired consistency); stir the mixture until it thickens, and apply is as a moisturizing face mask and/or body lotion.
To simplify things, you can also apply one teaspoon of honey onto clean skin and allow it to moisturize for 15-20 minutes; rinse with warm water. You can also add a small amount of honey to your warm bath water for softer water and softer skin.
