The Delta Waste Management Board says it has prosecuted 60 waste bill defaulters in the month of June and that, those that dumped waste on walkways were fined N5,000 each.
This was made known on Monday by the board’s Director, Mr Cletus Bebefagha, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba.
Bebefagha said that the defaulters were prosecuted in Asaba, Ugheli, Udu, Efurun, Sapele and Warri towns.
He said that those that had paid their fine had already presented their tellers in court.
The director said that the board had done well in the area of enforcement, adding, however, that it still has challenges with stubborn residents who continue to default on monthly basis.
He commended the police for their support to the board in discharging its duties.
