A 19 member committee on immunization was inaugurated today by the Zamfara government.
The committee was set up to ensure the administration of routine polio immunisation and other child-killer diseases in the state and also to monitor and review the status of implementation of the state's annual RI work plan.
The inauguration was done by Dr Lawal Bungudu, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health in the state, was to harmonise synergy in the provision of Routine Immunisation (RI) services.
The permanent secretary said the work plan would be achieved through tracking of identified performance indicators in thematic areas as outlined in the plan.
He said that, the committee will harmonise the state government and development partners’ efforts in the drive to strengthen routine immunisation and ensure adequate and timely information sharing between partners for quick and effective response.
In his remark, Alhaji Yusuf Musa, the Chairman of the Committee and Director of Primary Health-Care (PHC) in the state’s Ministry of Health, pledged the committee’s commitment to do a thorough job.
He said every aspect of the committee's responsibilities would be vigorously followed to maintain zero-case and complete eradication of polio and other child-killer diseases in the state.
